This week… we are discussing make up…. from a teenager’s point of view.
What age do I think make-up is okay?
I think around 9-11 is when girls should be allowed to start wearing make-up. It’s big right now. Teen love to wear make-up. It’s usually the kids who wear it. As long as they can do their own make-up or have a friend who is willing to do it for them, then it should be okay.
What make-up do I wear when I’m allowed?
I usually do eye shadow and lip gloss. When I go and stay the night with a friend I wear lipstick, eye liner, blush, eye shadow, mascara, and body glitter. For the school dance this year my friend wants to do my hair and make up. I’m doing a little lipstick with glittery lip gloss, eye shadow, mascara, blush, and eye liner. With a strapless black dress.
Do my friends wear make-up?
Yes, all my friends wear make-up every day. That is where I feel left out. Every girl wears make up at my school. I’m not really allowed to wear make-up but I wish I could. Most girls spend about 2 hours doing their make-up every morning. When I wear make-up the most time it takes me is about 15 minutes.
Am I comfortable going without make-up?
Uuuummm… this is a hard one… I guess not. I’m not really comfortable without make-up. I feel more comfortable with make-up on.
Do I think it’s weird some girls go without make-up?
No, I don’t. I think it’s fine that some girls don’t wear make-up. It depends on how you feel. Your beliefs. If you are comfortable wearing it. As individuals I thin the choice is up to that one person… if they do or don’t wear make-up.
It is time for another edition of Teen Talk. Laura has been working pretty hard on the post for this week. Today’s topic was cell phones and teenagers. I asked her to address her thoughts on many aspects of the cell phone. If you haven’t seen Laura’s introduction, please check out this post.
I have a cell phone. It is an iPhone 4S. I love to text but I kind of hate calling. (Mom’s Note: Laura does have an iPhone 4S. Because I know that will get some people stirring… let’s say that it wasn’t expensive since it wasn’t the newest version at the time. She has the iPhone because of Apple’s app “Find My iPhone”. I can track her and her cell phone down to where she is at. That is the basic reason she was given the iPhone.)
Some of my favorite apps are YouTube, Iheartradio, Sims Free Play, Matching, Jurassic Park, and Wattpad. I also like my FaceBook app. I wish I could get more games on my phone, but my mom took the app store off my phone. I think she doesn’t want me to have games. In my opinion, parents shouldn’t be able to do that. I mean, I think it’s okay for parents to check their phone if they want to make sure their kids don’t have anything inappropriate. However, I think that kids also deserve their privacy.
The good thing about having a phone… is when you move, you still have contact. I can still keep in contact with my friends even though I have moved a few times. We spend a lot of time texting each other.
If parents ground you from the phone, I think that they should be grounded for a good reason. There should defiantly be an end date to the punishment. I think a good length of time is a week or two. I don’t really like when I get in trouble for something and they take my phone away from me. My mom takes my phone away my phone at night as well. In my opinion they shouldn’t be allowed to take my phone away at night. Because it’s not exactly going to help me in the future.
I think that children should be allowed to get a cell phone when they are 11-12years old. It depends on the kids maturity and if they would break it. Many kids get angry and throw things. You will want to be careful with your phone because they are expensive. You will be expected to keep your phone through the contract (normally two years). But you might want to keep it longer.
I’m really excited to launch this new little “series” on my blog. It’s a series that I am going to be overseeing and regulating but not really posting on. As most of you already know my oldest is a teenager. She is exploring her independence and increasing her skills. She’s growing up fast! But most of her life, that she is able to remember, I have been a blogger. I have shared my life pretty openly though my blogging with a few details that kind of remain somewhat secret. So, I’m launching a “series” that will feature my teenager. I’ve went through a few names but we have finally landed on a name that I really like. This will be called “Teen Talk”!! This “series” will be posted every Tuesday… and Laura is really excited. I will be monitoring her posts before she makes them and she has some very strict rules she has to follow. But right now, she will be discussing some of her life but mostly I’m giving her topics that are out there with teenagers. If you have any topic ideas you want a teenager’s take on, feel free to let me know and I will schedule it in!
My name is Laura. I am 14 and in the 8th grade. I live in Illinois. I’ve lived in Colorado, Germany, and several smaller towns in Illinois. I was born in Greenville, Illinois. I celebrate every August! I’m a Leo. It fits me mostly. I live with my mother and my two brothers. I’m the oldest kid in the house.
My favorite colors are black, dark purple, and wine red. My favorite things are horses, cheesecake, music, animal prints, books, and of course we can’t forget my phone!! Some of my favorite authors are Nicholas Sparks, Stephanie Meyers, and R.L. Stine. My favorite book is “My Sister’s Keeper”. When I’m not reading, I am usually listening to music. Some of my favorite singers are One Direction, Three Days Grace, Christina Perri, and Nickleback. I love shopping. One of my favorite stores is Hot Topic. My favorite subject in school is either reading or civics. Reading because we get to read half the class period. Civics because we can sit where ever we want and talk as long as we listen and take notes.
I have a couple of nicknames. At my old school they used to call me Charles Dirvenburr. Here they call me Sarah, Silence (which I have no idea how I got that one because I never shut up) and Sprinkles 2. I think my greatest strength is being a good buy hyper friend. My weakness is math.
So, there are some basics about me. I am looking forward to being back to talk to you guys again next week! I hope you will be back soon to read some more!
